What happens to my screenshots when I use Ask Screen?

Floaty Touch encrypts every screenshot with hybrid RSA-2048 + AES-256 before it leaves your phone. The server processes the image to answer your question, then discards it — nothing is stored beyond the live request. Offline tools (OCR, sticky notes, ML Kit translation in 50+ languages) never touch the network at all. Encryption keys live on-device, so even VietByte engineers cannot read your screenshots in transit.

Does Floaty Touch work without internet?

Floaty Touch works offline for OCR, region and full screenshots, sticky notes, app shortcuts, and ML Kit translation in 50+ languages including Vietnamese. Only Ask Screen (AI chat), specialized Packs, and cloud translation engines (Claude / GPT / Gemini / Google Translate API) need the network. Pixel 7 baseline: a typical offline OCR + ML Kit translate trip takes 0.7 to 2 seconds end-to-end.

Does Floaty Touch drain battery?

Floaty Touch runs a foreground service so the floating button can stay on top of other apps, but no AI calls or network traffic happen unless you tap. Real-world measurement on Pixel 7 idle: about 3% battery per day. Heavy use with cloud translation and Ask Screen pushes it to around 7% per day. The capture pipeline only spins up when you tap the button — never in the background.

Why does Floaty Touch not work in my banking app or password manager?

Floaty Touch respects Android FLAG_SECURE. Banking apps (Vietcombank, MB, ACB, Techcombank and most others), password managers (1Password, Bitwarden, LastPass), Snapchat, and some DRM-protected video players mark their screens as protected to block screen recording. When you try to capture one of those screens, MediaProjection returns a black frame and Floaty Touch shows a small notice instead of failing silently. This is enforced by Android, not by us — every screen recorder behaves the same way. Apps like Instagram, Netflix, YouTube, TikTok work fine.

Is there an iOS version?

iOS is on the roadmap, but it will never match the Android build. iOS does not let third-party apps draw over other apps — the floating button cannot exist on iPhone the way it does on Android. We are exploring a Safari extension plus iOS Share sheet for translate, OCR, and Ask Screen. That handles web pages and shared content, but you lose the true overlay that works inside any app. We will ship it when bandwidth allows.

Can I get a refund if I do not like it?

Floaty Touch refunds go through Google Play within 48 hours of purchase, no questions asked. Open the Play Store, find the order, tap Refund. Lifetime purchase included. After 48 hours, refunds become a manual review by Google — usually still granted for unused subscriptions, but not guaranteed.

Screen reading uses MediaProjection — the same screenshot API any screen recorder uses. That is the full permission set, plus Internet for cloud features. Most overlay apps abuse Accessibility because it gives unlimited control over the device. We built around it on purpose so you can keep Accessibility off for banking, password managers, and other sensitive apps.
